It’s time to face facts – the kids need their own computer

So we’ve been trying for WEEKS to get the PC in Dori’s room to pick up whatever magical airwaves our system puts out so that she can get online but to no avail. Who am I going to call for assistance with getting the magic to flow where it needs to go? Hudson Technology Consulting & my good friend Einar…

“For the home, we provide onsite as well as remote diagnosis and repair. In addition, we provide application installation, hardware upgrades, new custom desktop and laptop computers and complete network design, installation and troubleshooting services.”

Danka, Einar.

A Shout Out to my house cleaners~

A Shout Out to my house cleaners~

Tonight, as I wade through the clutter & dust that has collected in the past 6 days since my housecleaners came by, I decided that it’s time to mention them in my blog. This is a two person team – Angy and her sister. Their business card says “Angy Cleaning Service” and I can’t help but look at that and see “Angry Cleaning Service.” But the bottom line is that I don’t care what mood you are in as long as you roll up the area rugs and clean the floor underneath while you are here.

Seriously, though, these two girls are just the sweetest people ever- very reasonable and absolutely immaculate.

Oh – and the husband/brother in law of one of the sisters is Edwan; and he does small jobs around my house. It was so great to find a terrific handyman on top of everything else :) .

Black Friday Shopping

Black Friday Shopping

It’s 1am on Black Friday. I’ve never been a break-down-the-store-door person on Black Friday, although I’ve always enjoyed witnessing the madness vicariously through my own friends, who are insane.

Let me be clear: I am up because I ate a ridiculous amount of food on Black Thursday and am in so much pain that I can barely breathe. There are many different levels of insanity.

I thought it was a good time to post about SHOPPING since from what I’m reading on Facebook this is what everyone is doing right now. There are lots of choices out there, a lot of sales, and tons of retail outlets vying for attention. What a great opportunity to have your gifts this year pack a double-punch…shopping local will not only bring joy to the recipient of your present, but the money you spend will stay right here, supporting local entrepreneurs who are the heart and soul of our beautiful Hudson Valley!

Keep it local this holiday season!

Keep it local this holiday season!

I say it all the time – “buy local” – and I mean it!

As a tribute to my friends who are small business owners, I’m putting together this blog to help showcase their stuff :) . I’m posting about people I know – in most cases I know them very well – and I give them my highest recommendation!

In the immortal words of Charlie North:

“When you shop, when you dine, and even when you shop online – think local first!”
